We visited Annapolis MD December 1998 to
"Celebrate the Holidays through Literature."

This was the theme for the annual open house at Government House, the Governor's home.
Gov. Parris Glendening and wife Frances
Hughes Glendening
 organized an art event that
included contributions from more than 3,400
students from around Maryland. Kids made holiday ornaments to decorate seven trees.

I'm standing in front of the Maryland Flag as it flies on a historic building across the street from the state capital. Larger file -- 24k, jpeg

Here below, I'm leaning on a cannon that traces back to the Jamestown settlement. It is mounted in front of the old section of the State House.

Thank you to the Governor and his family for the invitation, and to all the people who worked to bring this event together. We enjoyed it.
